Kim Johnson, LCSW, has been working in the mental health field since 1990 in the Sacramento area. She has experience in both public and private sectors. Kim has
helped individuals of all ages and backgrounds overcome past trauma and conflicts, alter dysfunctional patterns, and realize their potential for recovery and fulfillment. Her
primary passion is to assist children, teens, and adults on their journey toward healing, wholeness, and TRANSFORMATION.
Specialties
Some of Ms. Johnson’s specialties include play and art therapy for children as young as age one, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety
disorders, marital and family issues, survivors of abuse, stress management, and grief and loss.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
Kim was trained in EMDR Therapy in 2000. She is a Certified Therapist, Approved Consultant, and Trainer with the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). Since
2017, she has been providing EMDR therapy training both in-person and virtually. Kim integrates EMDR therapy into her work with most clients, specializing in using EMDR
with children as young as age two and clients with dissociative disorders. She also serves as a consultant to therapists, helping them enhance their EMDR skills
and achieve certification as EMDR Therapy therapists and/or approved consultants.
Speaker
Ms. Johnson has an extensive history of public speaking and is known as a vibrant, interactive, and informative speaker. She has presented at the EMDRIA USA
Conference and has conducted webinars for over 100,000 attendees worldwide. Her passion is to speak at local, national, and international levels to promote awareness of
EMDR Therapy and to encourage other therapists to learn more about this transformative approach.
Humanitarian Work
Over the past two years, Kim has had the privilege of building relationships and providing support in some of the world’s most challenging environments—including war-
torn Ukraine, the red-light districts and slums of Thailand, and during a community crisis in Penang, Malaysia. Through these travels, she has been teaching about trauma and
EMDR Therapy while also offering direct services to soldiers, refugees, sex workers, and those affected by crises such as suicide and the Bangkok earthquake.
Additionally, Kim collaborates with several non-profit organizations to provide EMDR Therapy to care workers and trauma-impacted populations. More international
opportunities are expected in the near future.

healing process of trauma survivors. It offers practical action plans to help them navigate shame, guilt, and emotional wounds, fostering resilience and recovery.
